Soft Impressions
Polaroid SX-70 Photography

All of my images begin as Polaroid pictures, created by using a Polaroid SX-70 camera. Once an image is captured and has fully developed, I press on the top of the picture using a blunt tool to redistribute or "smoosh" the emulsions. This is how I obtain the softened lines and blend colors, producing a more painterly effect. The hand-manipulated images are then scanned into my computer to make a digital negative, allowing me to print a variety of sizes. All printing is done with an Epson printer using archival inks and acid free papers.

This exciting and challenging technique has allowed me the freedom to blend my love of photography, gardening, flowers and nature into an entirely unique image.
